Why on earth did you use a genre I frequently listen to as a comparison then? Its not like other genres don't have clear leads all the time.
FAR more often than metal, they do.

QUOTE
The way you expressed yourself hints otherwise.
No it doesn't. You infer incorrectly.

Hey, I know this song.

It's a decent song. But it's better in-game, because, like, it goes well with the action there. I wouldn't want to listen to this unless I'm playing the game. But if I'm playing it in the game, it's pretty good.

WHAT'S SAD IS THAT I'M STILL STUCK ON THAT AWFUL FINAL DUNGEON PUZZLE, WALRUS.

N.EX.T - The Vampire Saga (Slayer's Theme)

So apparently I am still in this. Very well. This time, instrumental.

EDIT: From the Guilty Gear XX #Reload Korean Soundtrack.

It sounds familiar, even though I've never heard this song before. It's okay. Kind of repetitive, though.

Wow, for all the "ZOMG *jizz*" I hear in regards to Guilty Gear's music it's really not that interesting. And, expanding on what Rhea said, it definitely borrows heavily from something I can't quite put my finger on. Not that that's a bad thing, but greater originality would be nice.

N.EX.T - The Vampire Saga (Slayer's Theme)

From Tonfa. Sounds a lot like Castlevania. Also organs, which are good. 7/10

N.EX.T - The Vampire Saga (Slayer's Theme)

Tonfa, who has gone through a strange mix-up in which he claimed to drop out of submitting songs and then it turns out that apparently he is still in this thing, returns once again to bring us a song from some Guilty Gear game. As I'm not sure which part of his edit is part of the name of the game and which is part of the soundtrack, I'm not going to try to say which one. This time around, the song appears to be The Vampire Saga, theme of some character named Slayer. Perhaps.

Like the previous three reviews have all said or elaborated upon, the song does seem to sound familiar to something a few of us couldn't identify, and Walrus claims it sounds like Castlevania. I agree with all three of them, that it does sound very familiar, and it does bare a strong resemblance to Castlevania music. I'm tempted to say the organs remind me of one of two Castlevania themes, being either Vampire Killer or Bloody Tears. I'm leaning more towards the former.

The song itself opens with percussion and guitars, which then momentarily drop for some organ-y stuff, followed by the guitars copying the organs. At around :25, the two groups split up for a few seconds to do some stuff, and then they repeat from where the guitars copy the organs to :25 again, but this time at :50, they go to do some new stuff which involves chord progressions and arpeggios. At 1:14 we begin some guitar fancypants playing which leads into more organ solos, followed by guitars playing with them. This seems to go on for the rest of the song, essentially. Once we get to 2:18, however, we get what sounds like NES 8-bit synth insturments with their own solo, which for some strange reason reminds me a little bit of Gradius. We then find ourselves returning to the same stuff that happens at the beginning, but the ending is composed of a little organ solo.

How I'm seeing this song is that I'm finding it catchy, slightly nostalgic, and very repetitive. In short, I liked it, but the composition could have been better.

Score: 7.5/10

"Carnival of Rust" by Poets of the Fall
Also, the awesome music video can be seen here.
Also, I went with this because I thought their more somber "Late Goodbye" might be too well known having been in the credits of Max Payne 2.
Also, Finland.

I really like this song. Contrary to what I thought when I found out what song was posted, I really don't have much to say. It's a very good song.

Ahhh. I remember this. I even went and tried out a few other songs by them after you showed me this a while ago, but the rest of the album really didn't appeal much to me sadly.

However, I still like this song! Its hard to put my finger on what I like most, but its most likely the atmosphere in the chorus. In fact, I get a wierd feeling that its a bit like Release, and Pressure, off A Fine Day to Exit.

N.EX.T - The Vampire Saga (Slayer's Theme)

I swear this could be a Power Metal track if you added some ball crushed vocals. Its kinda repetitve, but its got a pretty decent initial tune.

I think I know a Symphony X song that sounds vaugely like this actually...hmm. I'll have to check.

Union - Neurotic Outsiders

I think it's a nice song. Simple but nice. And there's something about the vocals that I like a lot, but I can't quite put my finger on what exactly it is.

Super groups are always fun. I don't have much to say; I introduced her to the song when I liked it, after all.

I remember that. It's pretty neat. The very beginning reminds me of Red Hot Chili Peppers for some reason.
